Our first Christmas in Peru! It was a whirlwind of activities and so unlike what we usually do at Christmas time that I wasn't as homesick as I thought I might be. We invited the Office Elders to have a Christmas Eve dinner with us and Christmas day (and the 24th & 26th) we celebrated with special Zone Conferences with all of our missionaries throughout the mission. They were fun days and we enjoyed being with our missionaries. We began each "Conference" with a Christmas Devotional with musical numbers by each of the Zones. We followed by watching the movie Silent Night, the story behind the hymn and its composers. Everyone really enjoyed this movie and the special spirit the hymn Silent Night has. We followed with a lunch of arroz con pollo and the Peruvian tradional dessert at Christmas time -- Paneton con Chocolatada which is basically fruitcake and hot chocolate, we did chocolate milk because it is way hot outside and it was a little tricky to try to cart hot chocolate around the city. Lunch was followed by a rousing game of BINGO, presents and singing of Christmas hymns and a music video made by the Church. We all had a wonderful time together (we got to do this 3 days in a row and it was great each time). We are not sold on paneton yet, maybe next year!

O Christmas tree!
Our Christmas Eve traditional dinner, WAFFLES! Not a fancy feast but we like it and I think the office elders did too.
