March 2013 P-Day activity at Kurt Beer Park

The zones Capullanas and Piura Central invited us to go with them to this mini zoo for a P-day.  We weren't sure what exactly to expect so we were pleasantly surprised with this park.  It was very clean and since it was a Monday morning we were the only ones there, even better!  There was a grassy area where some missionaries played a little soccer and then we all just meandered through and checked out the animals.  I think they were having lunch there after but we had to leave.  It was a fun morning.
/Here we all are at the entrance waiting for all to arrive.
The peacock was kind enough to pose for us.
Hermana Duffy, Chad, Hermana Cordova, Elder Penney & Elder Torrejon
Chad and a pretty parrot that you can't see very well.

 Bunnies!

Hermana Cordova and Elder Oces

I was pretty sure these ostriches were going to take my hat.
 Elder Torrejon and Bambi
Logan, what sound does a turtle make?
Something kind of creepy about these guys.
Here comes lunch for all the animals.
 Zone Capullanas
Zone Piura Central--funny story, after we took this picture we were suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees.  They must have been up in the reeds of the roof.  We were quite a sight I am sure as we all ran screaming and waving our arms, poor Hermana Cordova got several stings before it was all said and done.  A memory made.
 Kids at heart!
A fun day in Piura.

February 2013 - Elder & Sister Uceda

Elder Uceda and his wife were able to visit our mission in February.  Elder Uceda is a member of the Quorum of the Seventy and also a member of our Area Presidency.  In a few short days we accomplished a lot!  Our days were spent in special multi Zone Conferences with our missionaries and the evenings were filled with trainings with the members of the Church in the five stakes in our mission.  I know that we learned a lot and are grateful for the opportunity to learn from our leaders.  Missionaries love any chance they get to be together and learn how to be more effective as missionaries.  They learned the importance of being obedient and not treating lightly things of the Spirit -- "trifle not".  We learned the importance of supporting and teaching members how to help us in missionary work.  Members are excited to work with the missionaries and we are seeing a change of heart in all.  We all benefit from counsel and I guess that is why I love General Conference.  How wonderful to be a part of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints!
